There are about 260 work days in the year. And it is true that you spend almost 80 percent of your time a day in an office. That means that your work wardrobe is way more important than you think.

Yet how many times have you faced this choice: buy a nice, work-appropriate blazer, or buy something more fun, like a cocktail dress? Most of the time, the dress will win, right?

But it shouldn’t be like that. Dressing appropriately at work can help make a good impression and might even help you to get a promotion. Remember the saying - dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.

Fortunately, you don’t need to have a huge wardrobe to always look sharp and ready at work. Sometimes people buy too many things and still can’t find anything to wear in the morning. That is why you have to form your capsule wardrobe.

But this task is not that easy. You have to really think about the clothes that you have and that you still need to buy to form a full capsule wardrobe. Here are a couple of rules that you need to follow along the way:

    1. Choose your color palette.

    2. Pick enough shirts for a week.

    3. Check for good proportions.

    4. Choose conservative and classic shapes before modern and fashionable.

    5. Go for the best fit possible.

    6. Accessorise with personality.

    KEEP IN MIND:

Always keep skirts knee-length. Even if you work in a more creative environment - a short skirt is a big no-no. You don’t want to distract attention for the wrong reasons.

Never choose sleeveless tops, if you do - consider a jacket or some piece of clothing that will cover your chest.

Cropped pants or culottes can be worn with flats and heels. But if you are wearing long pants, it is the general rule in the office space that you have to match them with heels and if you are working long hours that could be a problem especially if you are not used to heels. You don’t want to distract yourself from work and only think about the pain that heels are causing you.

HAVING THAT IN MIND, we decided to do a little experiment around the office. TWO weeks (that means ten work days) with only seven pieces of clothing. Are you ready?

    What is our two-week wardrobe?

    -1 pair of jeans

-1 pair of classical cut pants

    -3 dresses

-2 shirts - classical white shirt and fancy silk ones

    - 1 jacket

    - 1 sweatshirt

Purses, jewelry - uncountable. (Remember the beginning of the text? Accessorise with personality!)

WARDROBE FOR TWO WEEKS (10 WORK DAYS)

    THE OUTFITS

    NOTE

    - You have to have at least two pair of shirts and at least 2 dresses. Let’s be real, after a long and hard work day - we need to wash our tops, well.. just because. So, it is a must to have a backup dress and shirt.

    - Also, even if you feel great with heels, you need to change into flats from time to time. Let your feet rest too.

    - Pick something not too casual. You need clothes that will serve you both: at the office and in the evening. Imagine that you don’t have any time to change. So your outfits have to suit the expression form desk to dinner.
